Foster & adoptive parents need support, too
It can be hard to feel successful when navigating the world of foster care or adoption. Often times, the services readily available to help are geared toward the children in care, not the foster or adoptive parents providing the care.
It’s time to change that.
Our Services
Individual & couples therapy
Whether you are new to the world of foster care or adoption, or have been doing it for years, each case can present different challenges. Our individual or couples therapy sessions provide a safe space to get honest about which areas of providing care are going well, and which areas could use some attention.
Foster parent coaching
Like any type of parenting, foster parenting can present unique challenges that require a specific set of tools. If you are struggling with areas like attachment, discipline, navigating the nuances of biological parent communication, or getting familiar with what services your local school should provide, these coaching sessions are for you.
Adoptive parent coaching
Contrary to popular belief, all of the struggles of the foster care world don’t just go away once adoption occurs. Like any stage of parenting, navigating through post-adoption challenges can be difficult. These coaching sessions can help provide support whether your adoption was yesterday or 10 years ago.
More about our owner
Hi, I’m Allison.
I’m a wife, stepmom, foster mom, adoptive mom, & biological mom. I’m a current Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Illinois & a former Illinois Child Welfare Specialist (aka caseworker!).
I have always felt that there was a gap in services offered to foster & adoptive parents. I would see an array of support services available to the children in foster care, but noticed hardly any “real life” services for foster or adoptive parents.
Navigating through the world of child welfare can be confusing at best. Not to mention the physical, mental, & emotional toll it can take on your family, your marriage, or your job.
My hope is that if you are struggling to feel successful as a foster or adoptive parent, in big ways or small, that you will reach out to me.
I get it because I’ve been there & I can help.
